St. Brigid School Receives Third National Blue Ribbon Award
Today we are delighted and proud to announce that Saint Brigid of Kildare School has been named for the third time a Blue Ribbon School by the United States Department of Education. We are the only school in Ohio to receive a third National Blue Ribbon School Award in the last 15 years.
The National Blue Ribbon Program honors public and private K – 12 schools that are either academically superior or that demonstrate dramatic gains in student achievement. We again received the award in the high-performing schools category, which recognizes schools that have achieved among the highest scores in both reading and math as measured by state or national standard tests, as well as have demonstrated excellence in their mission, curriculum, instructional methods, and professional development. Schools are only eligible to apply for this award every five years, and St. Brigid is excited to receive this award for the third time in our school’s twenty-five-year history.
While we are proud of our academic, curriculum, instructional, and professional excellence that earned us this award, of most importance to our community is that we offer to the children of Saint Brigid of Kildare Parish a school of academic excellence within a framework of traditional Catholic values.
Our school children learned of the award this afternoon with a surprise celebration. The students were told they were practicing an evacuation safety drill from the school to the church. When the students were seated in the church, they were then informed by Principal O’Reilly that their school won the prestigious award. The church erupted in cheers of excited and proud children. Ms. O’Reilly, Monsignor Hendricks, and Mr. Adam Dufault, Superintendent of Catholic Schools, offered remarks to the student body and staff, thanking them for their dedication, service, and commitment to both their Catholic faith and academics.
In just twenty-five short years our school has grown from a dream in the hearts, souls, and minds of Saint Brigid parishioners, Bishop James Griffin, and founding pastor Monsignor Paul Enke to a three-time Blue Ribbon School, vibrant in our Catholic faith and with demonstrated academic excellence.
Today we celebrate and praise God for our many blessings!
Sincerely,
Monsignor Joseph Hendricks
