St. Brigid of Kildare School is currently working towards becoming a Purple Star School. The Purple Star Award recognizes schools that show a major commitment to students and families connected to our nation’s military.
At St. Brigid, we honor the unique needs and sacrifices of military families and strive to create a welcoming, supportive environment for all. As part of our journey toward Purple Star recognition, we have engaged our students in several meaningful initiatives. Each year, our eighth grade students write heartfelt letters to veterans before their Washington, D.C. trip and hand-deliver them during their visit. These acts of gratitude have made lasting impressions on both our students and the veterans they meet—many of whom have written back to express their appreciation.
In addition, our school community comes together every year for a Veterans Day assembly, led by school parents who are either veterans themselves or currently serving. This special event allows us to recognize and celebrate the service of those within our own school family.
